This multidisciplinary community center is a celebration of clarity, energy, and connection. Inspired by the natural form of quartz, the design captures its simplicity, beauty, and dynamism, transforming these qualities into a space that welcomes, engages, and inspires people of all ages.
Quartz is more than just a mineral—it embodies strength, purity, and light. Its crystalline shapes guided my design process, influencing the floor plans, circulation, and forms throughout the project. Just as light refracts through quartz, natural daylight was brought into the center from every angle, filling spaces with warmth and energy.
From the earliest sketches, I sought to replicate the fluid, organic shapes found within quartz formations. The result was a floor plan full of movement and flow, a layout that feels both playful and cohesive. This design demanded a deep focus on interior architecture—prioritizing form, structure, and materiality over decoration. Every line, every surface, every curve was carefully considered to create a truly unique space.
The community center was designed to accommodate a wide variety of functions, offering spaces for learning, creativity, and gathering:
The palette reflects a balance of raw and refined: exposed concrete contrasts with colorful accents and light materials, adding depth and character to the interiors. Strategic bursts of color energize the spaces, while clean lines and open forms bring a sense of clarity and order.
This project was both challenging and exhilarating. Working with quartz as inspiration pushed me to explore new design possibilities and to be bold in my approach. The result is a community center that is dynamic yet welcoming, structured yet playful—a space where people come together to learn, create, and celebrate.
